experienced problems in signing up for this drawing if you tried it
early last month. Hopefully the system is now working as advertised.

3) Sirloin Tip Special When you buy an order of Sirloin Tip Steaks,
Four (4) individually packaged steaks, 14-16 oz each, you will also
recieve 2 lbs. of our famous Ground Beef FREE.

Red Alert: While
we are still on the subject of ordering beef. If you are thinking about
giving the gift of beef this holiday season, we want to give you some
advance warning about our holiday shipping schedule. The last day we
will ship for the holidays is December 15th. After December 15, we will
not ship product out until January 5th. Therefore if people are desiring
to order LGB for Christmas gifts or for themselves for the holidays,
they need to have their order in prior to Friday, December 12th.
Are you tired of
the same old headlines in all the news you see on T.V. and in the newspapers?
There is an interesting new website called www.technorati.com which
organizes news stories according to how many times those news stories
are mentioned by people who write Blogs (web logs). The general idea
is that if many people who write about current events find an article
worth mentioning, that it might be somehow more interesting or relevant.
I am sure that this type of service will evolve considerably, but it
certainly seems to have some merit. For a much more detailed and interesting
explanation, you can find an article on Technorati in the December issue
of Discover Magazine.
For those of you
who might be eager to engage in a bit of linguistic voyeurism, you might
want to pick up Made in America by Bill Bryson. This book is chock full
of great tidbits of trivia about American History. A large part of the
book discusses the origins and changes of words and usage of words in
"American English", so at least a mild interest in linguistics
is necessary if you want to power through this book. Among other things
you will learn that the motto for the U.S., E Pluribus Unum (one from
many), was taken from, "of all places, a recipe for salad in an
early poem by Virgil".
Website Improvements
For those of you
who missed it last month, I want to mention, again, the two improvements
to the Lasater Grasslands Beef website which truly offer you the chance
to get something free! Who says there is no such thing as a free lunch!

allows you to give us a little help in spreading the good word and obtain
a $10 coupon (one coupo is redeemable on purchases over $100) You simply
send an email to 5 of your friends (immediate family members don't count
as friends, although they might be!) telling them about Lasater Grasslands
Beef (one coupon per family please
The Prize section
is where you can find our newest promotional feature, the monthly drawing!.
Every month we will have a drawing for a different product. Once again,
on January 1, the drawing will be for a ½ family sampler (once
again, one entry per family please). Here is one strategy, for increasing
your odds of winning (or at least partially winning), which we wouldn't
be opposed to: tell your best friends about this drawing and have them
sign up for the drawing. If they win, maybe they will give you a roast,
or a steak or a couple of pounds of ground beef. The odds of winning
this prize are much better than the lottery!
Help!
We frequently receive
requests from customers who are looking for other great healthy food.
Last month Christian from Charles River in Massachussetts wrote, "I
am looking for a source of organically raised poultry, and pork. I am
looking for sources where the animals are not fed only grain (i.e..
in the case of chickens and turkeys they are able to eat ground insects
as well - i.e.. truly free range)." We also had another request
for ideas on where to buy free range turkey. Hmmm, maybe we're a little
bit late for that request. If you have any good sources of Free Range
Turkeys, chickens, etc. or any other great healthy food you've found
along the way, please let us know and we'll pass the information along
to those who have requested it. Alternately you can post it in the Message
Board section of our website.
