Who we are....


Dale Lasater, managing partner,
The Lasater Ranch


Dale was general manager of International Cattle Systems, a diversified cattle feeding and ranching company headquartered in Ulysses, Kansas, from 1972 to 1981. Following graduation from Princeton in 1965, Dale spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He taught school on Hacienda Sierra Hermosa, Mexico (1966-67), and worked in a cattle improvement program with the Peace Corps in Colombia (1967-69). He has served on the board of directors of Beefmaster Breeders United, the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, and the National Cattlemen's Association. Dale and his wife Janine have two sons. He is the author of Falfurrias (College Station, Texas A&M University Press, 1985).
 

Duke Phillips, rancher, Lasater Ranch Associates

Duke worked from 1985 to 1989 as ranch manager, Canon Blanco Ranch, White Lakes, New Mexico. For the next ten years, 1989-1999, he worked as manager, Lasater Ranch Associates, during which time he helped start Lasater Grasslands Beef. From 1983 to 1985, Duke was employed on his family's commercial cattle operation in northeast Oregon, and prior to that, he spent a year working as a cowboy on a large spread in northern Queensland, Australia. He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas. Duke was raised on a ranch in northern Mexico and is bilingual. He and his wife Janet have four children. They live and ranch on the Chico Basin Ranch in southeastern Colorado.
 

Andy Duffy, manager, The Lasater Ranch

Andy taught university courses in Ohio for two years, worked as a firefighter in New Mexico, and for seven years, was manager and part owner of his family's cattle operation in Montana. He is experienced in all facets of the cattle business and has traveled widely in the U.S. and South America. Andy's wife, Julie, is equally outstanding and shares his love of cattle and land. They live on the ranch with their two young daughters, Bronwyn and Chloe.
